Offering a magnificent view of Québec and the St. Lawrence River, Fort No. 1 is an impressive defence work, built between 1865 and 1872, to protect Québec from an eventual American attack. Restored between 1972 and 1982, it is hidden behind terreplein, surrounded by a ditch and is accessible by a rollingbridge.
